OPR marriage: MCGREGOR, PETER; MARGARET CLARKE/FR542 (FR542); 28/11/1835; 474/30 75 Buchanan [7] Coll died before 18 December 1735 when his Testament was confirmed. His executors were Margaret Campbell, his widow, and Robert Murray of Glencarnock, as principal parties and on behalf of Coll's creditors Alexander Stewart, writer in Stirling, and James Alexander, saddler there. There is a second confirmation in November 1736 and all four are referred to in their capacity as executors qua creditors. Neither document refers to a relationship between Margaret and Robert of Glencarock, nor between Robert and Coll, and, instead, he is simply acting in the capacity of a creditor. However, I think this may be circumstantial evidence that Robert was actually Coll's brother in law and taking on the role of executor assisting his sister Margaret. [14] Linda Nisbet's ancestor, Peter, was the second child and was baptised on 21 September 1807. He was the boatman on Loch Katrine mentioned in John Ward’s notes. There is an article and photograph of him in the Glasgow Herald. 'Peter McGregor and John McDonald, boatmen on Loch Katrine, Trossachs, for 52 years. They rowed Her Majesty, the late Queen Victoria from the ‘Rob Roy’ steamer to the Royal Cottage to turn the water on to Glasgow in the year 1859.'"

It appears to me that the generation of John 1838-1866 discussed in note 24 could be confusing
[28]
Linda Nisbet says: "Although I haven’t found Peter in the 1861 census, he may have been living in Stronachlachar, Loch Katrine. The 1861 census shows his son John, at age 23, was a servant/omnibus driver for Robert Blair, Trossachs Hotel, Inversnaid. John drowned in Loch Katrine, Stronachlachar, at the age of 28 on 18 July 1866. (I have a copy of details of the drowning from the Glasgow Herald, dated 21 July 1866). At that time John’s family were living in Stronachlachar. As Stronachlachar (towards the western end of the loch) was one of the two main access points for Loch Katrine (Trossachs Pier at the loch's eastern end being the other) it is possible that Peter was living there? Maybe they did not reach Stronachlachar to do the census or Peter was out in his boat?"

Peter, born 1895, awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DMC) in WW1.
