[1] This connection comes from Dr Richard McGregor - part of the Roro genealogy
A section of the Roro genealogy

[2] OPR MARRIAGE: ROBERTSON, DONALD; MARGARET ROBERTSON/FR519 (FR519); 05/11/1727; 357/30 49; Fowlis Wester.
This is probably incorrect. Kirkmichael marriages blank 1693-1736. From births I have assumed Janet Robertson

[3]
OPR Baptism: ROBERTSON, JOHN; DONALD ROBERTSON/JANET ROBERTSONE FR344 (FR344); M; 01/01/1729; 370/10 348; Kirkmichael
OPR Baptism: ROBERTSON, ALEXANDER; DONALD ROBERTSON/JANET ROBERTSON FR340 (FR340); M; 24/06/1728; 370/10 344; Kirkmichael
OPR Baptism: ROBERTSON, DANIEL; DONALD ROBERTSON/ ROBERTSONE FR334 (FR334); M; 14/08/1727; 370/10 338; Kirkmichael
Note that the Gaelic for Duncan - Domhnal can sound like Daniel to a non-Gaelic speaker. Daniel is an unusual name in the Highlands, but Duncan was very common in the Roro family.

[4] OPR MARRIAGE: ROBERTSON, JAMES; GRISSAL MCDOUGAL/FR247 (FR247); 20/03/1752; 370/10 251; Kirkmichael
Although John was recorded in the 1729 birth record, the marriage in 1752 is of James. Both are in Kirkmichael parish. It could be that James is another son baptised in the period 1731 to 1736 when the register was blank.

[5]
JOSEPH ROBERTSON [MACGREGOR], a native of Perthshire, for sometime clerk in an upholstery warehouse in the city; licen. by the Newcastle Classis [Presbytery] of Dissenting Ministers, 13th April 1773, and ordained by them next day. Officiated among this people, and was received into communion and authorised by the Presb. 26th July 1775. Assumed the name of MacGregor in 1784 (which had long been proscribed), and died 12th Jan. 1801. He marr. Janet Brown, who died 5th April 1789, and had issue Robert Brown, Colonel of the 88th Foot; Margaret (marr. Joseph Maclaren, surgeon, Royal Scots). [Kay's Portr., i. Duncan's Elog. Sepidch., Epitaphs.] JOSEPH MACGREGOR ROBERTSON, marr. Nov. 1771 Janet, daugh. of Thomas Brown, merchant, Aberdeen. His son, Hamilton, died 12th Nov. 1813, aged 21.

John Ward's genealogy has the descent Donald - John - Joseph - Robert.
I would have expected Joseph to have been at least in his mid to late 20s when ordained, so born around 1748 or earlier, but if he is the grandson of Donald Bane and son of John (James?) then (if licit) he has to be born no earlier than 1752.
We could dismiss John Ward's tree and infer that Joseph was a younger son of Donald Bane but the OPR record does not exist for that.
The list of the Old Parish Registers indicates that the Kirkmichael was either blank or had missing pages between 1731 and 1736.
So, if Duncan (Daniel), Alexander and John baptised in Kirkmichael are the sons of Donald Bane and Margaret Robertson, then it is quite feasible that the baptism of their son Joseph took place before 1736. I have arbitrarily picked 1733, which would have made him 40 in 1773 and 68 when he died in 1801

[6] OPR Marriage: ROBERTSON, JOSEPH; JANET BROWN/FR286 (FR286); 10/11/1771; 685/1/490 509; Edinburgh .

[7] OPR Baptism: ROBERTSON, ROBERT BROWN; JOSEPH ROBERTSON/JANET BROWN FR9304 (FR9304); M; 28/11/1776; 685/1/ 350 342; Edinburgh .

“Majestic and gay were the vessels adorning Thy banks, lovely Dee! as I wandered along;
Where I loved to inhale the pure breath of the morning, And listen with glee to the mariner's song.
How proudly I gaz'd on thy port that was crowded With barks that were freighted from India's shore;
Nor thought of the time when thy hopes would be clouded, And commerce and industry bless thee no more!“
Colonel Robert Browne McGregor, stationed here in 1825. .
